Our Belize River Lodge Story
In 2014 we moved to the ‘wilds’ of Belize from the ‘wilds’ of Minnesota. We purchased some land in Cristo Rey Village on the Macal River, built a temporary home, and started our Belize River Lodge with one guest bungalow. The construction of our current home was completed in 2019, and we converted our first Belizean home into a second guest bungalow.
Most importantly, we ventured to Belize with extensive experience in the hospitality industry including over 33 years of combined experience at Walt Disney World and another 12+ years of experience in owning a restaurant, herb farm and Bed & Breakfast in the states. As a result, we definitely know what it means to exceed our guests’ expectations!
Born & raised in Michigan, Jeff ventured to Florida where he met & eventually married Cheryl (born & raised in Florida). We both grew up camping and love nature with all it has to offer. However, as we matured (grew older) we realized that camping was maybe a ‘bit’ too rustic. There’s a lot to be said for electricity, hot water and a comfy bed!
Your Personal Welcome
We call our little jungle paradise home, and you can always count on a warm welcome and someone here on-site to assist you. We live on the property and take pride in personally greeting you upon your arrival. While there may be occasions when we need to travel to the States (or go on our own little vacations), rest assured that there will always be someone we trust on-site, ensuring your needs are met, and questions answered.
Whether you want to chat about Belize, seek local recommendations, or simply need assistance with any aspect of your visit, you’ll have a reliable point of contact right here. Your comfort and satisfaction are of utmost importance to us.
We are early risers – usually up and around by 6:30am. Our guests’ tours take them away from the property most of the day – but we are usually around to answer questions, provide directions, etc.
So, here we are in Cristo Rey Village, Belize with our Belizean adoptees, Milo (dog) & Lucky (cat) – in an AMAZING jungle village full of wonder & delight on a daily basis ~ that we can’t wait to share with you!
